using a single pushbutton to increment in c programming

i am doing a project on programmable timer switch using pic16f84.i am using one pushbutton to increment on the selected choice, either in setting minutes or hours.
so i want to ask how do i write in c incrementing the counter once when a pushbutton is pressed once.
