Usart-rs232 data processing in PIC

How to receive and process the data in the desktop PC received via USART-RS232? The microcontroller iam using is PIC18F4520.
I tried installing RealTerm, but it's not working.
Is there any way to receive the data into a web application, process it there and add the processed data to the database?
 

You can receive and send data from rs232 using hyperterminal

if you want to process the data then you have to write a program in your pc like VB or any other language you know.
