I need to place the the transmitter and receiver at different places. My receiver must be able to transmit the measured distance wireless-ly to a PDA. I am confused about: Whether I need to use micro controller boards for both the transmitter and receiver, or I just need it for the transmitter itself? And can I know briefly how am I going to configure the receiver to transmit data wireless-ly? Thank you for your patience.

I use ultrasonic transducer for proximity sensor.
