Trying to read a PIC16F57 with ICD2...

...but all I get is 0xFF all over the memory. Could that be because it is protected in some way?
 

check the configgurations bits.
 

No, protected program and data memory is all read as 0x00, not as 0xFF.
 

Thanks for helping!

I rewired my ICSP connection on tried again. Now I get the first 64 lines of code and the configuration bits reads as 0FF5 (Code protected).
Is there no way around this? Why do I get the first 64 lines if it is protected?
 

From datasheet 16F57:
Once code protection is enabled, all program memory
locations above 0x3F read all ‘0’s. Program memory
locations 0x00-0x3F are always unprotected.
 

damn... Is there no way around this?
 

have you put a 10k resistor from pin 2 to pin 28 ?
