I want to do some measurements using x-band waveguides but I'm a bit confused about how to realize a TRL calibration.
In particular:
- Trough: can I just connect directly the flanges of the two assemblies where I want to define my reference planes?
- Reflect: can I use a shorting plate on the above mentioned flanges?
- Line: what should I use for the line (band of interest is 8.4GHz - 12.4GHz)?
- Line-2: instead of a line can I use a termination as the Flann 16100?
Thanks a lot,
regards

Hi, for your case you only need Through, Reflect (short) and one Line. Since the band-of-interest is less than 1 octave, it is no problem using only 1 line. The line should be a length of waveguide approximately 90 degrees phase shift at the center of the band.
