+ve half clips off in a transistor ckt if it is ...

in saturation
in cut off



i think it is in saturation , but someone told me cut off ... bt my logic only goes for common emitter biasing .... so what should be the right answer ...
 

You should at least show the topology in question.
 

Your assignment does not have enough details.
If the transistor is an NPN in a common emitter circuit then it is cutoff when its collector goes as high as it can which cuts off the +ve of an AC signal.
If the transistor is a PNP in a common emitter circuit then it is saturated when its collector goes as high as it can which cuts off the +ve of an AC signal.
If the transistor is in a common base or common collector circuit then things are different.
