[SOLVED] Transformer in Series wiring

Hi

I am have tried to put 2 6kV transformer in series to get 12kVrms but seems like I am only getting about 8kV, not sure why here is the circuit diagram.




Doesnt look like there is anything wrong with it.
I checked each transformer and they both give 6kV respectively.

unless they are in the in the same phase sequence , you will get different voltage.

Hi Srizbf,

The in coming voltage is 380Vac measured. On a single transformer it shows 6.3kV which is correct.
However when connected in series it seems to be only about 8kV. I dont see anything wrong with the wiring.

Why is the 1k resistor in the primary?

What happens without resistor?

remove the 2nF and check the voltage.
(on the assumption that dot convention in the trfr is adhered)

I dont think the resistor on the PRI side should affect it.
I'll see what happens when I remove it.

It increases the voltage slighly but the waveform is not very good.

since you have waveform monitoring facility, better to check this:

the phase difference between the two secondary windings.

Its seems that the transformer is a 400Vac on the primary and I am giving it 380Vac, not sure if this is the problem. But I dont think it should affect it so much.

OK problem solved. It was actually the 1k ohm in series with the transformer that was caused it to drop in Voltage.
