Hello I need help with simple circuit. I am a n00b with the subject.

At first I would like to know if R and Z1 are in parallel or not.

After I have to find the total current:

So I have to find the corrispondent impedence between R and Z2 (parallel) and then between the new impedence and Z1 (series).

Which are the formulas?

is Z3 = 1/R + Z2 ??? and then Z4 = Z3 + Z1??
 

Impedances add in series, admittances add in parallel.

Convert Z2 to an admitance and add it to 1/5. Then invert the total and that is the new load impedance.

Then Z1 and the new load are simple series circuits that add.
 
bif44 is correct. R and Z2 are in parallel. R1 is in series with the parallel combination of R and Z2. An alternate way of performing the calculation without converting to admittance, is to simply use the "Product over Sum" rule to compute the impedance of the parallel combination: Zpar = 5(8+j6)/(5+8+j6). Then add Z1 as biff44 suggests.

I meant to say "Z1 is in series with ..."
