Hi, everyone, i having my diploma final year project this sem, the title is digital display of torque value for a torque wrench. i have no idea on how to do it even after google it. can anyone here give me some guide please ?

Hi,

The question is what ist the starting point for your project? If it is a torque wrench like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...jpg/220px-Torque_wrench_reading_view_0688.jpg , then one option would be to measure the torque distance by a linear encoder(like the iC-ML) and using a battery powered microcontroller (like the MSP430) with direct LCD display drive. For the use of magnetic encoder you find a lot of applicatione here: http://www.ichaus.biz/appnote_magneticsensors . For the MSP430 take a look here: http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/microcontroller/home.page .

Enjoy your design work!

I would have thought a strain guage measuring system more appropriate. I'm not sure how exactly where to attach the guage to get an indication of torque, it probably depends on the construction of the wrench.

Brian.
