i want to simulate ferrite toriodal core inductor. How i can make coil around cylindrical ferrite core in cst.

thanks

You're talking about CST MWS or EMS?

Both have a built-in macro to make some kind of a toroid core and surrounding coil.

IIRC, in EMS, this feature is totally useless because there is nothing you can do with it, i.e., I don't think there's any way to drive the coil you create.

I'm not sure how useful this macro is in MWS...you'd have to experiment with it I guess.

hi,

i was just thinking that you could achieve desired results by doing this:

1. design a helix antenna (i think there is a macro about this) by defining
the required number of turns, diameter etc, , then
2. insert a ferrite body of desired dimensions within the helix antenna

this geometry should behave like an inductor loaded with a ferrite core.
