2,000 Rupees = $33 US dollars.

I remember years ago $100 retail was the goal of one US manufacturer, hoping to build an internet-capable gadget. I saw Acer come out with cheap netbook computers, and the $100 figure appeared within reach. However I believe a large portion of the price tag went to pay royalties to Microsoft for using Windows.

Then there is the monthly fee to an internet provider.

It seems like it will need a philanthropic gesture by a large business, to do what you suggest.

The right device might already be somewhere among the netbooks and smartphones and blackberry units.
