Can any please tell me whether there is any considerable variation from Moore's law and if there are variations, what could be the reason(s) for that.
Also what are important changes that is made in the new ITRS? Especially what will be the effect of changing feature size to 45nm?

Thanks in Advance!

Re: Moore's Law

moore's law isn't exactly a straight line and many use different lines of fit for it.... also the power dissipation and heat sinking problem may throw moore's law offbalance....

Can any one please tell me any link for this "variations from moores law" ?

Re: Moore's Law

Untill now there has not been great deviation from moore's law. But they are finding more difficult to move ahead with silicon.. The silicon technology is stuck at 45nm and its being very difficult to surpass it. So in the future moore's law could not be protected. But researches on carbon nano tubes are providing a good onsight to outperform the silicon performance..

Re: Moore's Law

Even though a lot of challenges ahead for process scaling, the lead in microprocessor market is mainly based on the early process migration, we will continue to see the moore's law valid for next 10 years.
