Hi,

Problem stated below has the following inputs
Pcombo = 5nW
Pleakage = 2nW
50%switching activity= 5nW/MHz
frequency=2MHz
Total Number of Standard Cells = 100k

Calculate :

1. leakage power of total standard cells
2. Switching power if 20% of Standard cells switching simultaneously
3. Total Power of the combinational cells

Formulae used to calculate switching power
switching power = Total No of Standard Cells * power of Each cell * Percentage of cells switching simultaneously * switching activity * frequency

In the above problem, They have given, 50% switching activity as 5nW/MHz,
While calculating Switching power for 20% of standard cells switching simultaneously...How switching activity varies ?

Could you please explain the relation exist between switching activity and % of cells switching simultaneously, while calculating switching power.??
It will be greatfult, if you provide the link or reference ..
