Re: Wireless-USB

Standard is not final and more similar standards will come soon... unless you need to but better to wait and see first which standard to follow. For the rest, only advantages compared to wired-USB, except for power hungry devices with no power supply connection :) So Wireless USB will be important for laptop to desktop communication, external HD, TV, Radio, iPod, iPhone, Skype etc.....

Re: Wireless-USB

One of the problems with small devices is the external interface for communication to other devices. If you remove them completely and you can communicate wireless you can make products smaller better looking since they communicate through wireless standard interface. iPod if it was wireless USB it could talk to your PC just like bluetooth. The problem with bluetooth is the low speed. Wireless USB of 100 - 380 Mbits/s is going to be available in the future (near). Than you can also download movies from your camcorder to your PC without wires !. You see ??

If your internet modem or router would have Wireless USB than you would not need to switch your PC on to use Skype or listen to the Internet radio since your radio with Wireless USB would be automatically connected to your router or modem with Internet and your PC would be simply off :)))... WLAN is to expensive since it is aimed at a large distance 50+meters but Wireless USB is for 10 meters only and therefor can be using a more effective modulation with a higher bits/Hz compared to longer range commuinication. Wireless USB and all future Wireless technologies for in door will go up in frequency +30 GHz and +60GHz since available speed will be higher +300Gbits/s and 60 GHz will not go through glass :))...

Wireless-USB

How about interference problem?
Many country has stringent regulation about operating frequency range.

Re: Wireless-USB

IMHO, the power consumed by wireless USB is killing this application, at least for now.
