definition of pa efficiency

Except for PAE, the general efficiency is output power/DC power

We can see the output power is P1dB output power.
Sometimes, the spec defines the efficiency at certain power level,
but the power is over P1dB and into nonlinear region.

My quesiton is which definition is right? or, which we often used in indurstry?

Thanks,

pa efficiency definition

There is no 'right' definition. Each one has a use and the value given should state under what conditions and signal type it was measured.

The efficiency is always defined for a given
output power level, because generally
the efficiency is not constant over varying output power

It would be more appreciated if you could get the plot of PA effieciency with respect to varying input power hence the corresponding efficiency to the output power could be easily obtained. Hope this helps
