My guess is you actually sell that software so I guess you would use it!

for purely drawing, AutoCAD is good. an open source tool Inkscape is also capable of electrical drawing.

Can Eplan simulate (electrically) contactors, timers, switches, relays... or it can only draw them?

you can user NI software which is originally called EWB ,the package contains " Multisim" which have a very good analog digital and MCU simulation . the package also have "Ultiboard" for pcb .
