how to test if a driver gate IR2127 is working ??

Best Regards

Hi,

in the datasheet all the specifications are given.

--> connect supply
--> connect input signals
--> connect a load or a real FET
--> connect all other, if needed (capacitors, bootstrap circuit...)
--> measure the output signal

decide if the output signal is within specification.

Hi
As i know every gate driver circuit has a suggestion of test circuit ! have you ever tried em ?

we followed the circuit in the attached file.

we applied 5VDC before the resistor but voltage at the HO & Vs was around 9V at each pin and the IGBT didn't open.

unfortunetly, we are unable to find lot of documents about IR2127.

Appreciate if you can help us.

Best Regards!!

Hi,

Two issues:

1) You need to connect a (low impedance) load
2) you need to pulse the IN input. Some kHz. duty cycle 0....99%. Not 100%.

Both is urgent to charge the bootstrap capacitor (C11)

Hello KlasuST,

Thanks for the data.

In case we connect the output to the IGBT instead of a small impedance load. Is it a must that the IGBT shall be loaded?

Moreover, Can you help me to find a document to best choose the rating of the components (capacitors, resistors, diods, etc..) as we are trying to control the following IGBT IRG4PH50UD.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

first you should learn about driving high side MOSFET/IGBTs, including how the bootstrap circuit works.

google "bootstrap circuit site:irf.com"
https://www.google.de/search?q=bootstrap+circuit+site:www.irf.com
give this of one of the first results:

www.irf.com/technical-info/appnotes/an-978.pdf
www.irf.com/technical-info/appnotes/an-1123.pdf
and many others

If you google for "IR2127" then one of the first results is:
www.irf.com/technical-info/appnotes/an-1014.pdf

Finding the right documents/informations is not secret today. (25 years ago it was much much more difficult)

With "load" i meant your usual load...connected to the IGBT output. I did not mean any extra circuit at the driver output.
