Test the stability of a circuit against EMI

Hi
I have always worried abut EMI signal and its Effect on my design. what is the best way to examine the behavior of our design?
How the major companies check their design in this term?
Thanks

They test it according to standards, to which their devices have to comply to on specific market.

Thanks for your reply, What kind of instruments or softwares do they use?
How can I test my design ( for home users ) ?

Professional EMC equipment is very expensive...
For home users:
- Test emmision by placing your device close to radio receiver and look for the interference over available frequency bands..
- Test immunity by running electrical drill, hairdryer or something similar, close to Your device and check if it still operates properly under this conditions.
