1)What does a synthetic transmission line means ? How does it differ from a transmission line.

A synthetic line is a cascaded array of lumped reactive components. It has same characteristics as a real transmission line and provides some delay advantages. There are also downsides.. eg its bandwidth limited (at very high frequency you would need more elements)
