Fiber Optic Sensor

hi!

i am trying to make a detector that will count everytime an object passes through.

i am looking at the possibility of using photo interrupters as my sensor but all the sensors i could see have very small gaps. i am looking for a wider gap, as much as 15mm.

i am trying to look up fiber optic sensors, as i was told that it could be used in my application. i need some help on this though, i am not familiar with fiber optic sensors.

any suggestions on a sensor?

thank you

Fiber Optic Sensor

Just like you, I haven't heard about fiber optic proximity sensors. May I suggest an different approach? 15mm is not a very big gap. You can buy discrete LED and photodiode and mount them against each-other at any desired distance.

BTW, here's another good place for sensor-related topics: **broken link removed**
