mechanical lamp counter

Hi, we're working on developing specific device for light emitting lamp sorting.
end had a problem of using standart microswitches for lamp counting.
After 2month of device working (200000 turn on/off) it's broke up...
doe's anybody can suggest us what king of sensor do we need to use for long term counting?
Thanks in advanse for your answers...

Re: mechanical lamp counter

Optical is usually done in cases like this. A LED on one side of the path of the objects and a light sensor on the other. To keep out room light, you can put a cylinder shield around the sensor. Another method is to pulse the light at a high frequency and synchronously detect at the receiving end.

Optical sensors is not a good idea couse lamps are lighting when passing through counter...

Re: mechanical lamp counter

Is there some way to use the light from the lamps and a photosensor with a lens in front so that it looks at the lamps and the empty space between the lamps?

Unfortumately no...
each lamp going through counter may light or not light...(we can't use that criteria)

Are you trying to count the number of light emitting lamp, regardless of whether it's a working or not working?

If light based sensor is prohibited, what about sound based sensor (e.g. ultrasonic sensor)? I'm not sure it suits your application or not. You may visit here https://www.migatron.com/close_range.htm
