Steps to interface with PCI TV card

I have now a PCI TV card and its software that can show TV screen.
Now I want to write a simple software that only need to detect TV signal, I have driver installed for this card.
Has anyone spent the similar problem before, please tell me your experiences on it !

Have you tried to connect an antenna to the card?
