Hi friends,
I have some queries regarding Stepper controllers.
1) Can a "bipolar stepper motor" be driven with "Unipolar stepper motor controller"?
2) If I convert the "6-wire Unipolar Stepper motor" into a "4-wireBipolar stepper" by wiring, then what would be the step rating? i.e. does the unipolar motor step rating(1.8 degree or 0.9 degree) get changed if its common lead left unconnected?
this is the first page, press next at the bottom of the screen to read the complete article.
In general a 6 wire motor (2 separate commons) can be used either as a bipolar if you connect the coil ends or a unipolar motor using the commons,
a 5 wire unipolar has a common wire for all 4 coils and can't be used as bipolar,
a 4 wire bipolar can only be used as a bipolar because you only have 2 coil ends and no common in the middle of the coils.
The steps are the same for the same driving steps (full step or half step).
