hi,

Explain some of the techniques to create std. cell layout without any jogs in poly, metal routings etc.

To create std cells following points are important
1) design the std cell layout within as less area as possible, because std cells are repreated, their area should be optimum
2) To avoid metal jogs, calculate the via size and overhang. With the obtained thickness value route the metal\
3) Place the pins as nearer to boundary as possibl to make them easily accessible
4) Avoid poly routing.

Adding to starinspace's message:
You have to first check the routing, pitch(Metal-M, M-V and V-Via).

For any thing , first you have to design a Layout and then you will know the trade off to design.
