I am making a solid state relay using mox3040 zero cross detection and BTA12-600 Triac,
The purpose of this Project is to switch the power source on failure in minimum possible time,
For failure detection, I am using ADC of 18f452, by sampling whether the power is fail or not
,
In general we know that its best to switch On triac when voltage are zero and switch Off when current are zero.

My Question is What happens When we Switch the Power source on power failure
1.if the current is not zero yet?
2.Can we drop current down to zero faster by any method( this decrease the switching time)
3.How can i detect zero current if current least for (let say) 10uS by using op-amp or else ?
