Hi Everybody
I have a small doubt regarding specifying AC power of a equipment.
We wanted to specify the AC input power of a equipment. We measured the Voltage using a Mulitimeter, then current using two multimeters
1. Normal Multimeter - Reading was 10 mA
2. True RMS meter - Reading was 26 mA
Now on what basics or how should we specify the power rating of the equipment?
Please clarify my doubt.
With Advance Thanks
Mani
You should use the true RMS meter for both the voltage and current measurements, and multiply them together for your power.
This is probably valid for your low power equipment.
Power switching systems can go beyond the capabilities of simple true RMS meters' crest factor ratings and give misleading results.
There are some situations where you might be concerned about the difference between reactive power and real power, but probably not here.
