Can I use multicast in a switched LAN?
I have a network as in picture, with 2 switches, 2 hubs and about ten PCs. Both switches implements spanning tree protocol (it defines SW1 as root switch).
In my application I stream voice packets on a multicast address (RTP) and everything seems to work. Even if the cable between hubs breaks down, the spanning tree protocol reconfigures the network in the right way.
I have a problem when I reconnect the cable between the two hubs. I have a temporary loop and packets multiply until the network congests.
This situation doesn't occur if I stream packets on unicast address.
any ideas on how can I use multicast in my network? thanks.
