.. part of the inductor contains the switching node..so do they put copper plane shielding in an internal PCB layer between inductor and control circuitry?
I have seen poor pinout architecture cause subharmonic switching
when a "fellow traveler" of the output (SW) node was placed next
to a pin that set the current mode compare level. We redid the whole
pinout and a fair bit of relayout for that one.
I imagine you could make the same mistake in PCB routing, though
have an easier time of fixing it.
