Simulink & HDL

Hi everyone,
I am comm system guy, I have no good background in digital design, so I need your help.
I have a project to design a transceiver , so I did most of the algorithms using MATLAB and need to go toward the HDL . So I need an easy way to do that, that is suitable to me . I heard that simulink is good for this task, and here are my questions :
from your experience how good is the simulink to do the HDL design from bunch of block diagrams ?
- What are the drawbacks?
- What I have to be careful about?
- and if Simulink is not good what are the other choices for HDL beginner ?
Thanks

Re: Simulink & HDL

many basic blocks in simulink are supported for HDL conversion , else write an embedded code in an embedded block function
