Hi there, i would like to build a USB to RS232 converter. Since there are USB PICs like 18F2550 and 18F4550, is there any sample circuits and firmware??

There is a fully working example from Microchip included in the USBDEM board. It is the CDC example. Progamming language in C18. Run that example and plug in the USB cable would give you a COM PORTx emulated in the host (PC)

try this chip PL2303HX,made in TAIWAN,is a very perfect and cheap USB<->UART solution.

Use FT232. Quite simple to use.
