What features are still available when the is in SIM900A sleep mode.
I want to double check with someone who has used this feature. Datasheet already has some info.

Can it send/receive SMS? (datasheet says yes)
Is the serial port available/active? (datasheet says No)
How do you wake up from sleep? (datasheet says - pull down DTR or on receiving SMS)
Does the module go to sleep mode automatically if there is no activity? (datasheet says make DTR high or AT+CSCLS=1 enables this feature)

Also, What exactly is idle mode?

You have got all the answers right. the command is AT+CSCLK (configure slow clock) not AT+CSCLS.

Idle mode is simply the mode when your module is out of sleep mode(by force due to low DTR) while there is no data on serial port nor any other communication in progress.

Can the SIM900A send out an interrupt or make a port high, when it receives an SMS?
