Hello,
There are quite a few threads in related to the SIM18 module. WE are doing a thorough R&D with the SIM18 GPS module and are seeing serious reliability issues. We have tested with SIM18 module with Sarantel Antenna SL1204 on our device. There is a question on the required voltage to the antenna.
We are using a LCD that draws maximum power in the whole circuitry. could it be that because of the LCD there is voltage drop in the antenna.
But, we are testing for almost 10 devices and seeing variable responses, in some of the devices the Time to Fix with Valid data is 3 minutes and in some it is 15-20 minutes. WE Switch OFF one device and Switch it ON, that was giving the GPS data and see there is no response again from the SIM18 module.
Our Device is having an external antenna, which is the SL1204 and we are SIM18 housed in the Enclosure where our device is a mobile device.

Could anyone answer to this reliability issue?
