I have a signal source. I connect it to a spectrum analyzer. I can see the
frequency spectrum of the signal. Can somebody explain to me how I can
calculate the Signal to Noise ratio from the spectrum analyzer.
SNR of what?
& I guess you need to have signal generator & spectrum analyser in same box I mean synchronized, then only you can measure noise figure on SA & then you can calculate SNR.
Hi Abhishek,
My source is a device working on 2.4GHz, I have attached an antenna to SA -
I can see the frequency spectrum of the signal - with default parameters (i.e. RBW, Attenuation, span, sweet time etc).
how can i figure out the SNR from that signal?
& how can i change the SNR on SA?
Thanks, I know this but how do I measure on SA? Any idea ....

Noise Factor (F) =
Total equivalent input noise power SNR(in) /
Input Noise power dur to source only SNR(out)
where
SNR(in) = Received Signal Power / Received Noise Power
and
SNR(out) = Output Signal Power / Output Noise Power
