Hello magicbrainz,
It won't be easy to determine what is the cause of the symptoms you're experiencing.
Its more than likely it will be an external component causing the fault and the IC getting
hot.
You need to get the datasheet on the STV9302A. You'll have to follow Pins 2=6 and 5 of this IC.
Follow along their path lines to any components attached to the same track, but your main
focus should be on any electrolytic capacitors.
Then you need to keep an eye out for faulty resistors.
Firstly though, check Pins 2 or 6 to make sure they are both getting the correct supply voltage.
Pin 2 and 6 should have around 35V on them.
Check that Pin 4 is not using a dual-supply by measuring Pin 4 to ground. I doubt it will be using
this setup, but you need to make sure.
If you measure 0V, then is a single supply, but if you read -35V, then its dual.
Please let us know how you get on.
