Hi all,
I have to design a robot, which tracks a yellow ball on a white field. Could anyone give me a suggestion about a kind of sensor I can use? I uses microcontroller for the control board. So I think I can not use camera.
Thank you very much!

There are several colour sensors that give you a analog output depending the colour. Using one of those you can probably differentiate between the yellow ball on the white background. The biggest problem seems to be the range of these sensors.

Yes, I think so.
The playing field is about 2mx2m. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you!

Have you considered Computer Vision? You should be able to find readymade programs for tracking certain colours. THe all you have to buy is a simple camera of some sort, depending on processor of course.
