what is the difference between SAW filter and LC filter ?
The market trend can be SAW filter ?

Hi

SAW filters : based on surface waves (mechanical) that propagate along the boundary air/dielectric.

LC filters: common old filters, based on lumped components, inductors and capacitors.

SAW filters present several benefits (simple, planars, cheap, prone to be mass produced, etc), and their maximum frequency operation is increasing. Right now, they are a good choice for the IF range (around 70MHz).

hello
the SAW filter (surface acoustic wave filter) is based on mechanical propagation ie the electric signal is converted to a mechanical signal by interdigital transducer and at the output an other apodized transducer convert the mechanical signal to an eletric signal ; these filters are widely used in TV cellular phones , they are very small
but LC filter are made by inductance and capcitance , they are very big
thanks

Two more cents: SAW filter can achieve much higher quality factor than LC filter.

Regards,
