Hi,

I have been using my monitor Samsung S24A350H for approx 2 years fine.

Recently it gave me problem when I connect it through HDMI cable,

Blank Screen & Solid Red Status Light. It scans and detects HDMI source. but screen is blank from the very first BIOS boot screen

I have used another port (DVI-D) of my Gr. Card via DVI-D to HDMI adapter to verify. It gives exact same behavior on DVI port also.

My monitor's VGA port is working fine so far.

I searched the net and mostly including samsung referring to upgrade the firmware to 1.7.1

see: https://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?modelname=S27A550H&from_osc=&idx=429824&modelcode=&#

But my problem is I have had already upgraded to this version when firmware was released long ago. Now when I try to re-update firmware utility is not allowing to do so. it says upgrade is not required and it quit.

Q. is there a way to forcefully refresh the firmware? I have the firmware

Infact I am thinking EDID for HDMI port may be corrupt but I can't access it since HDMI port is not operation. May be firmware upgrade can resfresh all EDID's on my monitor and solve the problem.

By searching I found another way to enter EDID is to use Soft jig utility and a UIM JIG specailly designed to connect monitors for programming.

UIM JIG is simple some digital gates. can be tried to design it. in software utility which programs, several files .mdl are there but I am not sure my monitor is there in the list

Q. can somebody explain on this how to do that ?

please suggest

Hi again,

I confirmed everything by connecting another Display ( in place of this samsung monitor) to my system. cable etc everything is working it means problem is in my monitor.

Now thinking EDID may really need to be re-programmed for this monitor HDMI port. no idea how.

please help
