Hi
Does anyone know the difference between Sampling oscilloscope and Real time oscilloscope (RTO) if I just want to observe an eyediagram for a signal like OOK?

which one is better and more suitable for seeing eyediagrams with different baud rates?
Thanks

Here is a nice article on the differences:

A clear term describing the measurement method of the "sampling oscilloscopes" discussed in the linked article would be "equivalent- time sampling". "Sampling oscilloscope" is a short cut, a bit ambiguous at times when most general purpose oscilloscope on the market are real-time sampling oscilloscopes.

I can just guess that the OP is specifically referring to equivalent-time sampling, but not sure about. Eye diagrams can be well acquired with equivalent time sampling, however.

Thanks a lot. I got my answer and I noticed that sampling oscilloscope is more suitable to measure jitter, rise/fall time... unlike RTO
