Hi! Concerning Ring VCO based Maneatis' cell , I have 2 questions concerning the "symmetrical load" :

1- Is the PMOS ,in parallel to the diode connected, in "triode" or in "sat" ?

2- I 've been reading in a "Integrated circuits design for high speed frequency synthesis" by "John Rogers" and he mentioned Maneatis' cell and commented on the symmetrical load : "results in a nearly linear transfer function of current versus control voltage." . How this occured ?
