resistance of space filled with a resisitive material

Consider two finite parallel plates to which different potentials are connected. The plates are embedded in an infinite volume of a resistive material, filling the whole space.
Is the resistance between the plates zero or non-zero?
 

I found the answer: the resistance is non-zero.
You can consider two spherical layers around the two electrodes - they have non-zero resistance and currents have to flow through them and through more of the resistive material.
