Hi

I search for a resettable kind of fuse with trip time less than 0.1ms. The current he can carry should be several tens of ampers (~30A) for very short time (few hundred usec). It seems PPTCs are rather too slow for such usage. Does anybody have any better idea?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards

What about an electronic "fuse" - an appropriate power supply with (pulsed) current fold back? See the pictures below. Sorry this is in German language; it stems from here.

A circuit powered by the electronic fuse may require some inrush current, e.g. to charge bypass capacitors. Personally I prefer
an electronic current limiter with a low voltage drop MOSFET, that limits the output current to a save level and a timer, that performs
a shutdown, if the overcurrent lasts for longer than a few ms to protect the transistor.
