How do we derive the formulae for various resistances used in the filter ?
I referred many books, but all of them give only the formulae for resistances in terms of quality factor and center freq??

Nischal,
Step 1:
Determine the (s-domain) transfer function of the desired filter.
.
Step 2:
Determine the (s-domain) transfer function of the circuit (active or passive) that you want to use.
.
Step 3:
Equate like powers of s in both transfer functions. You will have n simultaneous equations for an n-pole filter.
.
Step 4:
Solve the system of equations for the component values (easier said than done)
.

Kral
