Recommend me a LED for proximity detector system

Hi,

A LED will be used in a proximity detector system. LED of right specs (min 1m range), is required. (LED not LASER diode)

Any Info. plz

& thanks for ur time

I believe a regular ultra bright diode may do the trick.
Mount it in a black tube (like something from a ballpoint pen).
A couple of inches should be enough, but length may require to be a bit longer to bridge the 1 meter gap... Good luck with your project.
