Re-Using components from a PCB

Hello there,

I have many old PCI cards and other Circuit boards from different machines with some interesting components like FPGAs, CPLDs, Micro Controllers, SRAMs and many others components.

I've read in an Atmal's Datasheet that their µC can be soldered by re-flow method only 3 times.

The question is : how good or feasable is to desolder them from those PCBs and re-use them in other Projects ?
How reliable can / will these component be if I de-soldere them from one PCB and reuse on another one ?

Any suggestion ?

You can practice with hot air rework station, but look always to use new parts for new projects/devices.

Reliable is only new original parts.

No reliable at all. These components are normally stored in vacuum sealed packs. Exposure to air allows some moisture in the chip material. This does not hinder the operation of the component but under high thermal stress (ie soldering), this may cause failure.
