Questions Concerning MII Ethernet Interface

I'm new to MII interface..if i have a device that has a MII interface, do i just need a MII ethernet interface chip to make the eterhnet work? Is the TCP/Ip protocol built into the chip?

What specific device are you referring to, make and model?

This powerline device has a MII interface...
