Question about E1 line

Hi freinds!!
My question is : can for example convert 20 channel of a E1 line to one channel (for increase bandwidth )? if yes, HoW?

and please give me complete and comperehensive source for study about E1 line?

cables may have of different capacities,like E3 equals to 16 E1 i guess

I know that one E1 link is of 2.048mbps and is 32 channel and each channel is of 64 kbps, it is widly used in GSM system

As I understand, you can used the drop & insert modem which provided you drop & insert facility, then you choose 20 timeslots that you required as a channels and add-in timeslot 16 cause it's required as signaling in E1 transmission system.

Hope this help and correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, but u will think like this:
20 channel=20*64k=1280kb/sec
E1=2048kb/sec

on Router, you can separate 1280kb/sec out of whole E1 and you can assign it to any one for use. Hopefully, u understood.
