dc motor and current

We have a dc motor and two gears. Gear1 one has bigger turn ratio. (It reduces the speed and increases the torque more than Gear2).
So i think that dc motor with Gear1 must draw smaller currents for the same load. But it seems it doesn't. What is the reason of this?

Re: dc motor and current

The parameters of your load affect the power drawn. As long as the losses in the gears are low the electrical power in gets converted to load mechanical power with an efficiency factor.

For a constant load,SPEED*torque is a const

If you can read Italian language here is a link about parameters and dimensioning of a motor and gear box
