In asynchronous serial transmission, the serial data unit consists of start bit, data bits, parity bits and stop bit(s). Normally the line is held at MARK level. When the line goes low to indicate start bit, the Rx knows that data is being transmitted. However, how can a one or two stop bits indicate the end of transmission. Two stop bits is same as two zero bits of data bits. Can any one clarify this confusion?
