query for vhdl synthesis reports

Sir plz tell me that if i say that AES takes 70 percent area on spartan etc .... then how can i get this information from.... (by the synthesis report of the top level module only..... or something else?

i think its only get after synthesis of top module..

Otherwise if you have the synthesis report of each modules which are mapped in the top file, then by adding those modules usage you will get an approximate area of the top. the thing is that the actual one would be less that this..
