If this is about mass storage media, the memory is divided into several sectors usually 512 bytes each. A group of sectors together form a cluster. These information are stored in Master Boot Record(MBR). No. of sectors per cluster depend on the filesystem format the memory is formatted for. You may find these values #defined in filesystem library source files you are using to interface.
